Bite Byron
the brief: brand an annual family-focussed food and wine festival held in the relaxed costal town of Byron Bay.

the solution: I created typography combining food and fun to appeal to a family audience. The vector graphic characters can work either independently or together to form words, providing a wealth of options.
Fleurs Par Cherie
the brief: create a logo and branding for a florist providing bespoke arrangements.

the solution: I focused on the French background of business-owner Cherie Dupont and took inspiration from Parisian style. A custom font was required for the logotype due to the custom product being offered and this was complemented by three marks for different flower-giving reasons (heart: love, bow: thanks, butterfly: nature/just for the beauty of giving something natural). Collages using retro images were created to provide illustrative elements beyond standard photos of flowers.
Gabfest
the brief: devise and brand an event to revitalise the established organisation Toastmasters (a not-for-profit focusing on communication skills and leadership development).

the solution: to appeal to a young professional audience, and remove the fear that may come with the idea of public speaking, I used the keyword 'speak easy' and located the event at a bar and used a 1920s prohibition-era aesthetic.
Mercury Logistics
the brief: produce a report and micro-site focused on sustainability for a logistics company.

the solution: transport logistics involve the strategic movement of items and as such I was inspired by pneumatic tubes to create a corporate-friendly yet appealing aesthetic.
Rambler Simcards
the brief: design an identity for a new telecommunications company providing travel simcards.

the solution: as Australians of all ages are avid travellers and avid mobile phone users, the brand had to have wide appeal. The name Rambler was chosen as it means both to roam and to talk freely. Using a simple colour palette, a vector illustration style, and a script typeface, makes the brand professional yet approachable.
Projects week-by-week
I love that part in movies when the hero's transformation in summarised in a quick montage. Here's the equivalent for the start of my design education. You'll see some of the projects developed further above.
All work on this page created as student projects in 2016.
